Kings Kompany Kids is a music theater company that exists for the purpose of providing opportunities for kids with music and theatrical interests and abilities to develop their skills in a positive and encouraging environment.  Productions are primarily based on historical figures and classic books and stories that have an uplifting and inspiring message to be gleaned.  Since each production involves characters both young and old, children of any age can participate, though 7-17 is optimum.

Kings Kompany is currently accepting applications for the Fall 2010 Production, "Treasures of the Snow". Registration forms can be obtained by sending a request to  kingskompany@gmail.com. Don't miss out on this opportunity to be a part of something truly special. See details below:

  • DATE:  Friday afternoons, starting Sept. 10
  • TIME:  3:30-4:40 p.m.
  • LOCATION:  Windborne United Methodist Church,  9121 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27615
  • FEE:  $100, due with application
  • AGES:  7-17

*Note:  In order to keep fees low, we ask for parents' help with costumes, props, setup, tear-down, etc.  This is a family ministry, in other words.  Also, it is my desire to make sure that no child is turned away due to financial issues.  If you are facing financial hardships, you can meet with my board to discuss various options.  Also, a shortened version of the play will be performed in several local rest homes.

Comments from past productions :

"I cannot thank you enough for what a difference this week has made for our daughter!  She is so proud of herself, as are we, for being a part of this great production.  She's been in this "cloud" of happiness since last night.  When we got home that's all she could talk about- all the great nice friends she's met, that she misses them already, and the strong feeling of belonging to a group of friends unconditionally- A parent couldn't ask for anything more perfect!  I am very grateful for this experience for her.  As far as continuing, please keep us posted. Thank you, again!"  ~Sheila~

"Hats off to both of you!!!   My daughters have been talking non-stop about their wonderful week.  It was actually a pleasurable car ride to the beach and back this weekend, listening to them singing all the beautiful songs they learned.  Many thanks and blessings!"  ~Diane~

"Laurie Gartland and PJ Conger do an incredible job with the children!  My 14 yo daughter and 7 yo son participated in the recent production, "Valleys and Virtues."  We were so impressed with all the skills that they learned and how polished the performance was... it was a very memorable and valuable experience for our family.  This was a wonderful forum for practicing oratorical skills, singing, dancing/choreography, etc.  And this next production promises to be even better... Patricia St. John is the author of one of the best children's books I've ever read (Star of Light, for which there is a book study in the green Learning Language Arts through Literature curriculum)." ~Caryn~

" Anna is very excited about seeing the cast again!  The drama camp was one of the highlights of our summer.  We are still listening to the DVD and I have memorized almost all the songs.  I find myself singing them in my sleep.  What a blessing! Joel and Anna acted our David and Goliath, complete with bathrobe costumes and props, in our living room this week"  Thank you again!

"Our daughter attended the drama camp this summer.  She loved it!  In just 5 days, the company of 20 kids put on a very entertaining and spiritually inspiring series of skits that made the audience both laugh and cry.  Each child had an important role.  Some sang solos, some danced, some had speaking parts, all participated and learned ALOT.  The cost was very reasonable and the time demand wasn't too great either.  Laurie matched each student to a role suitable to them, even allowing for their own preferences.  Laurie is clearly gifted in writing drama and music, and loves children.  I would highly recommend her as a drama teacher!"  ~Mary Ellen~

The summer production 2010 was "Faith of our Fathers", a musical reenactment of the founding of this great nation.
